PRDW’s scope of work included the preliminary evaluation of the site conditions in order to provide a high level design and cost estimation of the main elements to be considered for the various alternatives.
The following primary marine infrastructure requirements for the import facilities were developed as part of the study:
The numerical wave model STWAVE was used in order to propagate the offshore wave data to the near foreshore area. A wave penetration analysis was used in order to quantify the effects of breakwaters on berth availability.
Five concept layouts and sites were identified and evaluated. Cost estimates were presented along with commentary and critical advantages and disadvantages for each layout. A multi criteria analysis was undertaken in order to identify the projected option.
